Rent a jeweler's bench on December 19 and get access to all the tools and equipment you don't have! The difference with this open studio is that unlike other open studios where you are "on your own", Jen will be there to answer your metalsmithing questions and assist you to get you more comfortable with jewelry fabrication.
Those who have taken Intro to Metalsmithing (or Metals 1 or equivalent) will have access to a flexshaft, well-ventilated soldering station, Pepe guillotine shear, rolling mill, hydraulic press, belt sander, polishing station, ring sizer, vice, mandrels, and hammers. Jewelers will be required to bring their own hand tools (i.e. files, attachments for flex shafts) and materials (i.e. metal, solder, flux).
Prerequisites: Metals 1 or equivalent
Duration: 6 hours, 10:00-4:00 (come and stay for as long as you want, but price remains the same)
Max. of 3 students
Students must bring all their own materials: metal, flux, solder, and an N95 or KN95 mask for polishing. Hand tools will be provided. Students can order materials online at Rio Grande Jewelry Supply.
Because health and safety for all is our top priority, the benches are spaced for social distancing and our clean protocol is CDC compliant. In addition, we'll be implementing a health screening. There'll be temperature checks at the door and you will be required to wear a mask. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant will be available for use.
