Beyond hammer textures, metalsmiths of all levels will learn the nuances in adding unique textures to metal in this one-day jewelry class!

Sometimes texture is an important design element, sometimes it’s a way to express something in your jewelry, sometimes it’s a way to hide a mistake, and sometimes it’s just fun!

If you are interested in learning a variety of ways to approach texture than this is the class for you. Students will learn different methods to create texture using a torch, stamping tools, hammers, and flex shaft tools.

Note: This is a class for learning different ideas for texturing so a “finished project” is not included in this curriculum, however students are welcome to bring projects they are personally working on. Students may also bring their own silver sheet.

Class duration: 8 hours with a 45-minute break for lunch.

Prerequisites: students must know how to safely operate a flexshaft and torch.

Last day to cancel for a full refund: February 13, 2021.

Tools and Materials:

Tools will be provided.  You need to bring your own mask as well as a N95 or KN95 mask for polishing.

Materials fee: (bring cash - exact change is appreciated)

  • $30.  Materials Kit includes: copper sheet, silver scrap, and 80/20 silver for reticulation and use of a small variety of flexshaft tools to texture with.
